They're Talking in Town
Larry Cook
they're talking in town
you disrupt the sleepy scene
you're a flower in a thorn bush
you can pick a feller mean
but it's the local girls that are moaning
as their faces turn from pale to green
cause you go where you're goin'
they wanna be where you been
now they're talking in town
you should know your place
it was them that was here first
and they just need the space
so now the nails are sharpened
and they drip with blood
after every shown embrace
you see the city ain't for dreamers
it throws a nightmare in your face
well they're talking in town
now they're talking in town
they bring you up to put you down
you're a nuisance you're a menace
you sure stand on shaky ground
and you been talking out of turn
and that's a capital offense
for anyone who's new in town
where love is a battlefield
and all hearts are registered
down at the lost and found
well they're talking in town
you're on everybody's lip
all the decent folks they bite their tongues
and all the others want to see you strip
now the road is wet with treacherous tears
watch out so you don't slip
they can't wait to see you fall
they can't wait to see you trip
now they're talking in town
they bring you up to put you down
