Every Thought Train (Runs Back to You)
Larry Cook
I went down to the station
Watch the trains go by
People hurrying scurrying
Destination is just a blink of the eye
But I got time plenty time I got so much time
But it don't tell no lie
For at the end of the day
I turn my head and I can't help but cry
In strength or weakness come rain or shine
I'll only get this message thru
When every thought train runs back to you
You're the love of my life
You're the silver lining behind every cloud
You're my twelfth rib missing
The one I can't do without
And I know I know I know I sometimes find it hard
To see things your way
But I really try to get close to you darling
It's not some game that I play
I been owned by the road that I travelled
With a void in my heart that grew
Now every thought train runs back to you
You been gone You been gone
And Mr. Daniels kept me company
Now my days they all break like empty shells
Nothing in it for me
I close my eyes close my eyes
And silent shapes appear
They may be lost to sight
Yet to memory dear
There's food on the table the roofs up high
And what else can a poor boy do
When every thought train runs back to you
Every thought train runs back to you
Every thought
Every wish
And all the loving
